Last week Pretty Loaded was invited to empower a group of SCHEELS‘ associates in Fargo, ND. This group was awesome and they were a “get it” crowd.
Fargo is the location of the SCHEELS Corporate Office and the second Largest All Sports Store in the World. Reno-Sparks SCHEELS became the World’s Largest All Sports Store in September 2008. Scheels has over 5,000 associates in 11 states.
What makes SCHEELS a giant success? It is an employee-owned, privately held business that owes its consistent success to its EMPOWERED associates, managers and partners who think and make decisions for their individual store and the entire company. SCHEELS is fortunate to provide people with the tools and knowledge to enhance their hobbies, their skills and their passion.
This group was empowered, happy, outgoing and energetic! As I walked through the store I was greeted by smiling faces everywhere. SCHEELS’ employees enjoy their work environment and it clearly shows.
An emotion that kills happiness is fear. Our mission is to provide skills and knowledge to enhance one’s personal safety to live a life with confidence and happiness.
Speaking of happiness, you may not think I read a lot of books on happy subjects, learning about predators and violence. I do though, because my focus is living the best possible life, and being happier and protecting my life are two important values I have.
A book I highly recommend is The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor. It is a book about positive psychology and it explains how leading a happier life translates to success and productivity at work and in our personal lives. Our brains are literally hardwired to perform at their best not when they are negative or neutral, but when they are positive. This is the environment at every SCHEELS store I’ve been to.
Thanks again to SCHEELS, we look forward to our next presentation with you this Fall!
